Regardless of what obstacles are in the way of the labor movement, I can help you tell your story. That’s how I’ve helped University Professional and Technical Employees Communications Workers of America Local 9119 (UPTE CWA 9119) grow its reach and win a massive contract victory at the University of California. This is a major victory for UPTE members across the University of California system and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory: delivering significant pay increases over four years, predictable and progressive caps on healthcare premium increases, and improvements in work-life balance, career progression, and job security. The victory would not have been possible without the perseverance and commitment of thousands of UPTE members and more than one-thousand unit and workplace representatives, who helped develop our platform and advocate for our patients, research, and students over the course of a two-year fight that included striking for seven days.
Here’s some coverage I helped to secure for UPTE:
Los Angeles Times: Thousands of University of California healthcare, research employees vote to authorize strike
KQED: Tens of Thousands of UC Workers Strike, Disrupting Campuses, Hospitals and Labs
San Francisco Chronicle: Labor strikes planned at all UC campuses and medical centers, union officials say
NBC 7 San Diego: Thousands of University of California workers start multi-day strike
KTVU FOX 2 San Francisco: UC workers, Berkeley teachers among the May Day protests in Bay Area
CapRadio: Labor workers gather in solidarity for International Workers’ Day
